In 1985, Armstrong sold the company and, along with Frederick M., founded the American JDA Software, Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio. After signing a contract with a Phoenix-based auto dealership in 1987, all eight JDA employees moved to the Arizona headquarters. After 10 years as a private company, JDA went public on March 15, 1996, acquired the original Canadian company and established its presence in Canada. On November 5, 2009, JDA announced its intention to acquire i2 Technologies, a Dallas-based supplier of supply management software. [7] The acquisition was completed in January 2010. In June 2010, Dillard`s Department Stores won a $246 million verdict against i2 and sought damages on the use of two supply chain management systems.
